Why it exists
Search for a free QR code maker or a file converter and you’ll find hundreds. Then you find the catch. The QR code stops working after two weeks unless you pay. The “free” download needs an account first. The real download button is hiding among three fake ones in an ad. Your file gets uploaded to a server you know nothing about.
Mono Mate is the version without the catch.
The rules it sticks to
- Free, no account. No sign-up, no free trial that runs out, no “upgrade to download”.
- Your things stay on your device. The tools run in your browser, so the text you type and the files you drop in are never sent to us. The privacy page has the details.
- What you make keeps working. QR codes hold your link or details directly. There’s no redirect in the middle that can expire, get switched off or start showing ads.
- No fake buttons. Every button does what it says. When there are ads, each one sits in its own labelled box, well away from the buttons you need.
- Plain English. If a tool has a limit, the page says so, along with what to do about it.
Meet Mono
Mono is the dot from the logo. It doesn’t talk and it never pops up over anything. It hops when your result is ready, jumps for joy when your download saves, and gives a little shake when something needs fixing. If you’ve turned off animations on your device, Mono keeps still.
Who’s behind it
Mono Mate is an independent, one-person project made in Brisbane, Australia. It isn’t part of a bigger company and it doesn’t sell anyone’s data.
Ads pay for the hosting and the time it takes to build new tools. That’s the whole deal: you get tools that work, and the ads stay in their box.
What’s next
The newest tools are the image compressor, the image resizer and HEIC to JPG. On the bench: merging PDFs and turning images into a PDF. Got a job you wish there was a straight tool for? Tell us about it.
